Hot off the press:

Another cult busted in Texas.  The D.A.: "If a bunch of adults want to get together and follow some con man and throw their
lives away, that's their right in this country," said Callahan County District Attorney Shane Deel. "But to me, when you do
that to children and they don't have a chance, that's where the biggest concern is."

Some Mormons no longer allowed use of second "m"

Mormons at it again.  Of course you've heard.  But it has to be said and said again.  Religion is bad.  There should be some
law against people like these adults having children.

Home-Schooling outlawed in California
Appeals Court outlaws most forms of home-schooling.  Most  home-schooling in America is done by Fundamentalist who are
not even qualified to be parents, much less to teach their children.  The whole dispute over its legality takes away from the fact
that in its attempt at truth, the Bible fails on its own terms as do all who profess to follow it.

Those most likely to force their children to participate in such an event as "homeschooling" are those who shout at us that the
Bible is to be obeyed.  They justify their crime against their own children by appealing to unclear scriptures and biblical
mandates. They ignore however, the very clear scripture and mandate to "hate their children" as commanded in Luke 14:46.

A child who is or wants to be a citizen of a country should be required to attend a public school in that country.  I can see a
compromise if those who are home-schooled or private-schooled are taught by those who are certified to teach by the
government of that country.  Unfortunately the decision likely will be overturned and the crime against these unfortunate
children will continue.
PICK YOUR POISON:
Fundamentalist - someone who has lost the ability to use their brain in an
objective manner regarding the particular belief system to which they
subscribe; someone who is certain that he is right in regards to a
supernatural belief and bases his rightness on a written text over actual
observable reality.

Help!  There are just
way too many of
them out there.

Throughout history extremist have killed in the
name of God.  They continue to this present day
drawing support from those who are less extreme
but hold the same belief in a supernatural being that
somehow justifies their crime against humanity.
Meme theory:  The belief is considered to be like a
virus that is contagious.  The virus spreads during the
exchange of ideas.  Some humans are more susceptible
than others.

Viruses mutate and evolve.  Only those most successful
survive.

Religion follows this same pattern.  But as with other
viruses, those playing host to the virus show marked
differences in behavior than those who are free of the
virus.

Comfort theory:  Human beings will make decisions
that most affect their comfort.  Those who find no real
comfort decision available to make their present reality
better create a system whereby the pain suffered here will
be outweighed by the comfort obtained in the life to
come.  Most common adhesive in Hinduism and other
"Karma" based religions.

When no "real" decisioin is available, the more painful
present reality becomes,  the more people will turn to
imaginary systems and worlds for comfort.

Believing in these "imaginary systems" results in
numbness.

Those who are numb have no reason to make present
reality less painful.

The symptoms are "love" based.  People affected
appeal more to a universal "love" and are attracted to this
idea much in the same way one is attracted to another
and labels that attraction "love".
